who is charlie hurley?
Previously, I used to be ISM driving instructor in Dublin Southside, specifically in Tallaght, Churchtown and Dun Laoghaire areas.
I always loved driving and especially going on road trips in Ireland, Europe and USA. The company I worked with for 20 years closed its doors in 2009 due to the downturn in the economy. My eldest son saw an advert for new EDT programme for learner drivers and said "You could do that Dad. You are patient and you love driving. The best combination for driving instructors.” Here I am, ten years later!
I love giving my students the freedom that driving a car gives them. I also like that huge smile when they pass their test. I meet so many lovely and different characters and have a lot of stories to tell. I love the freedom that it brings and being my own boss.
My preferred routes would be around Dalkey Village and surrounding areas. Bulloch Harbour is lovely during the summer. Dalkey Village is very busy and a challenging drive. My favourite route would be driving on N7 Naas Road as far as Kill. It gives student an opportunity to drive on a very similar road to a motorway.
If I could teach any celeb how to drive, it would be Stephen King, the famous fiction writer. I would take him to the Route 66. Oh yeah!
